UFC Fight Night 38 Shogun vs. Henderson 2

Hendo throws an extremely mean hook exiting the clinch with Shogun. The key to this is two-part. First, clearly is Dan Henderson’s power in his right hand. He is known for his infamous “H-Bomb”. This is not news to even fringe, casual, UFC fans, as it is a constant draw and continuously noted on in any Dan Henderson fight promo materials.

What I’m most interested in pointing out is the way Shogun caught the punch. Shogun’s head was clearly over his feet, completely off-balanced. There was no way for the force of Hendo’s punch to go anywhere except his brain. Receiving a punch like that by a regular guy would knock you down, from Hendo, your night is done.

The key to keeping your senses when getting a punch usually is to roll with it and that requires having your feet under you. Always remember to keep your feet below you.
